THE WAGES OF SIN

 THE SCENE OPENS ON A BUILDING IN DOWNTOWN MANHATTAN.  THE JANITOR OF THE APARTMENT BUILDING IS MAKING HIS DAILY ROUNDS CLEANING THE BUILDING.  HE STOPS AT ONE OF THE APARTMENTS AND LISTENS TO SEE IF ANYONE IS IN, HEARING NOTHING, HE USES HIS PASS KEY TO ENTER. HE LOOKS BEHIND TO MAKE SURE NO ONE SEES HIM GO INTO THE APARTMENT.  STILL TENATIVE BUT REALIZES HE IS ALL ALONE. HE ENTERS THE BEDROOM AND SEES A PICTURE OF THE BEAUTIFUL TENANT HE PICKS IT UP AND LOOKS AT IT FOR AWHILE THEN STARTS TO GO THROUGH HER DRAWERS. HE TAKES OUT SOME OF HER UNDERWEAR AND STARTS TO RUB IT AGAINST HIS LIPS AND THEN HE PASSES IT ALL OVER HIS BODY.  THE PHONE RINGS STARTLING HIM. HE DROPS THE UNDERWEAR AND LISTEN AS THE ANSWERING MACHINE TAKES THE MESSAGE.  AFTER HE HEARS THE MESSAGE HE DIVES ON THE BED AND REACHES OVER FOR HER PICTURE.  HE LAYS THE PICTURE BESIDE HIM AND THEN PUTS A PAIR OF PANTIES AND SOME MORE LINGERIE HE TOOK FROM THE DRAWER AND LAYS THEM OUT IN THE SHAPE OF A WOMAN WITH  THE PICTURE IS POSITIONED AS THE HEAD.

 

JANITOR

(To his creation)  Hi darling.  Are you ready for Larry to love you?  (he pretends he is stroking her)  Are you ready for my unconditional love?  (he gets on top of the clothing he laid out and pretends he is making love, he kisses the picture and proceeds to masturbate.  Suddenly there is a knock at the door he springs up quickly and wipes the picture with the sleeve of his shirt and puts it back on the bedside table.  He picks up the rest of the underwear there is another knock as he continues to put away the rest of the things, then creep to the peephole to see who is at the door)  The paper boy. That little bastard! I am going to get him for giving me a scare like this.

 

MEANWHILE, UP IN THE SKIES, THE TENANT OF THE APARTMENT MARIE FRANCE BELLECHOSE IS BEING PESTERED WHILE DOING HER JOB SHE AS CHIEF FLIGHT ATTENDANT ON A SHORTENED CREW)

 

M.F. BELLECHOSE

(losing patience) Look sir, we are short staffed and I have not worked the floor in a while.  You are making it very difficult for me to work.  Now for the third time I am not disponible and if I were I would be very dispendieu.  (the man looks towards his friend for a translation)

 

2ND MAN

She said she is not available and if she were she would be very expensive.

 

1ST MAN

She would be worth every penny of it.

 

(IN THE APARTMENT BUILDING LAURENCE MERCY USES HIS PASS KEY AND GOES INTO THE APARTMENT OF A DIVORCEE WHO IS STILL IN BED. HE ENTERS HER ROOM AND WITHOUT SAYING A WORD PULLS HIS ZIPPER DOWN AND MOTIONS FOR HER TO COME TO HIM)

 

LAURENCE MERCY

Where were you last night?  I came here and you were not here. Do you have somebody else fucking you woman?  Because if you do your rent is going to go sky high and God help you if anything should go wrong with your heating or plumbing..  I hope you're not going to look for me to fix it.  Talk to me Annie, I can't hear where you been.

 

ANNIE

I was visiting a sick friend.  She needed me, her husband walked out on her.

 

LAURENCE MERCY

Is she pretty?  We could always use somebody else to give our sex life a boost.

 

ANNIE

Your wife came to see me yesterday, she wants me to stop seeing you.

 

LAURENCE MERCY

(in a rage)  She came here?  Wait until I get my hands on her!  What did you tell her?

 

ANNIE

She said if I continued to see you she would pour hot oil on me while I sleep.

 

LAURENCE MERCY

You’d better be careful, she would do it too.

 

ANNIE

We’d better cool it.  I wouldn't want that wife of yours to put me into the hospital, I’m afraid.  (he jumps on the bed and grabs her by her hair)

 

LAURENCE MERCY

Afraid?  You should be afraid of me!  I am all the danger you never want to see!  You be here when I come, and only me!  I repeat only me is going to do time between those legs!  (he tears off her night gown and with his boots still on he pulls his pants down and  get's on top of her)

 

(THE PLANE LANDS AND MARIE FRANCE TAKES A TAXI TO HER APARTMENT. SHE OPENS THE DOOR AND WALKS OVER TO HER ANSWERING MACHINE AND LISTENS TO HER MESSAGES.  AFTER RETURNING SOME CALLS SHE TAKES OFF HER CLOTHES AND RUNS A BATH AND THEN WENT AND SOAKED IN A BUBBLE BATH UNTIL SHE HEARD HER BUZZER.  DOWNSTAIRS LAURENCE WATCHES AS THE GRAY HAIRED MAN MAKES HIS WAY INTO THE ELEVATOR.  HE WATCHES AS THE ELEVATOR GOES UP TO THE TWENTY-FIRST FLOOR. MARIE FRANCE IS WAITING FOR HIM AT HER DOOR WEARING ONLY A TOWEL WRAPPED AROUND HER)

Hello Kyle.  I was just in the bath, please fix yourself a drink while I finish getting dressed.

 

KYLE WENSON

Please don't bother, you always look so much better without any clothes.

 

(DOWNSTAIRS IN LAURENCE MERCY'S APARTMENT HE WAITS FOR HIS WIFE TO COME HOME. AS SOON AS SHE ENTERS THE DOOR HE GRABS HER AND STARTS TO SLAP HER AROUND)

 

LAURENCE MERCY

You went to one of the tenants and threatened her?  What's the matter with you eh?  What the fuck is wrong with you?  I have to get friendly with these people to make a few extra dollars cause your mother wants to come live with us and you go crazy driving away potential money.  In case you don't know it I'm a janitor! We have to do something else to supplement the income so if I can go and see what these women have in their place I can tell the boys where to go and get the prize.

 

(UPSTAIRS MARIE FRANCE AND HER DATE ARE DINING BY CANDLELIGHT. HE IS HOLDING HER HANDS AND LOOKING INTO HER EYES)

You know, since you came into my life I am able to do my job and a lot of other things better.  I’m going to ask my wife for a divorce so we can have more time together.

You know you’re just talking. (she moves closer to him)  As soon as you put wine to your lips you sing that same song.  I enjoy your company I am not asking for time I know you need for your job and family.  I am quite happy seeing you when I can. (passing her hand through his hair)  Just enjoy the evening, if you like we could take in that new movie with Tom Selleck and France Zobda.

(MARIE FRANCE AND KYLE LEAVE THE APARTMENT. AS THEY COME OUT OF THE ELEVATOR MERCY WATCHES THEM FROM THE CORNER OF HIS EYE.  HE MAKES SURE THEY GET INTO THEIR CAR AND THEN HE MAKES HIS WAY UP TO HER APARTMENT. IN THE APARTMENT HE GOES TO THE BAR AND MAKES HIMSELF A DRINK THEN GOES INTO THE BEDROOM AND SEES THE PARTIALLY MADE UP BED.  HE PASSES HIS HAND SLOWLY ON THE SATIN SHEETS AND THEN GETS UP AND GOES TO THE WASHROOM AND LOOKS INTO THE CLOTHES HAMPER.  HE PICKS OUT A PAIR OF PANTIES, LOOKING AT HIMSELF IN THE MIRROR HE BRINGS THEM TO HIS FACE AND INHALES INTOXICATED BY THE AROMA, HE TAKES THEM AND GOES BACK INTO THE BEDROOM.   LOOKS AT THE V.C.R AND SOME OF THE MOVIES THAT ARE BESIDE IT HE TAKES THE REMOTE CONTROL AND TURNS THE SET ON.  IT WAS MARIE FRANCE DOING A VIDEO DIARY.  HE LISTENS FOR AWHILE AND THEN HE FAST FORWARDS THE TAPE STOPPING WHEN HE SEES HER EXCERCISING IN SEXY POSITIONS. HE SITS ON THE BED WITH HIS EYES GLUED TO THE SET.  HE REACHES INTO HIS PANTS AND STARTS TO MASTERBATE.
